US President Joe Biden raised eyebrows after he claimed a "new world order would soon be established and that it was up to the US to lead it.

During a speech on Monday at Business Roundtable's CEO Quarterly Meeting, Biden claimed the world was at "an inflection point" which "occurs every three or four generations" and that it was up to the US to determine the outcome, RT reported. .

"As one of the top military people said to me in a security meeting the other day, 60 million people died between 1900 and 1946, and since then we've established a liberal world order and that had not happened in a long while," the president said.

The comment raised eyebrows in both the US and around the world and resulted in 'New World Order' becoming one of Twitter's trending topics

The term 'new world order has historically been used to refer to an era of great global change and has been used by politicians such as former US President George H.W. Bush, former US Secretary of State Henry Kissinger, and former UK Prime Minister Tony Blair, RT reported. For decades, however, the phrase has also been the subject of a major conspiracy theory which alleges a secret, elitist plot to form an oppressive global government.

INDIA SHAKY: Biden also said that India, an exception among US major allies, "has been somewhat shaky" on the Western sanctions slapped on Russia for its invasion of Ukraine. Referring to how unified Washington allies have been in isolating President Putin, Biden stated, "...The Quad is, with the possible exception of India, being somewhat shaky on some of this, but Japan has been extremely strong - so has Australia - in terms of dealing with Putin's aggres

sion." Biden in his remarks further asserted that Putin didn't anticipate how unified NATO and western allies would be in their global response to his invasion of Ukraine.

At a virtual Quad conference earlier this month, leaders of Australia, Japan and the US had denounced Russia's invasion. However, Prime Minister Narendra Modi reiterated the need to return to a path of dialogue and diplomacy."

India is the only member of the QUAD that has not condemned Russia's invasion. All member countries of the QUAD, barring India, have

also slapped significant sanctions on Russia.

India has abstained from key United Nations votes on the crisis as well, calling instead for an "immediate cessation of violence" and a return to dialogue, reports ANI
