Three Jawans hurt in grenade attack by Naxals

The Maoist guerrillas, frustrated with the increased activities of security forces, at-, tacked Elmagunda camp of CRPF Battalion on Monday in early morning hours resulting in injury to three jawans, police said.

In the attack, the guerrillas used country-made improvised barrel grenade launcher and guns, police said.

IG Bastar Range Sundarraj said 3 CRPF jawans were injured in an exchange of fire with Naxals near Elmagunda camp in Sukma district, early Monday morning.

Injured jawans are stable and would be shifted to high er medical centres for further treatment, he added.

After the CRPF camp was attacked, the jawans also retaliated in self-defense forcing the naxals to flee into the jungle

Police sources also claimed that a number of Naxals might have received serious CHHATTISGARH DIARY injuries in the retaliatory fire. After the gunfight, the troops were dispatched to carry out further combing operation, but no bodies were found till the reports were filed

Superintendent of Police Sunil Sharma while speaking to FPJ said, "I am at the spot and will share the further details soon."..

One Killed In Hit And run case

In a hit-and-run case, an intoxicated driver, ranmmed his SUV into half a dozen people on the roads of Raipur late Sunday night resulting in death of a roadside hawker, police said on Monday. Three men were severely injured in the accident on the roads of Budhapara, Purani Basti police station limits.

Raipur district's Superintendent of Police (SP) Prashant Agarwal said they have arrested the car driver, Devraj Pal, a resident of Raipur. In the CCTV footage released by police, a speeding SUV having no. CG-MA-2200 was seen crashing into a pushcart on the road, resulting in the death of Laxmikant Dohre (20).

Police claimed before this incident, the driver also hit several vehicles near Bhathagaon bus stand. On receiving information, the police car chased and caught the driver in PuMoni Basti area where after ramming several vehicles, it crashed into a wall in Budhapara pond area. An FIR was lodged under section 304 (culpable homicide not amounting to murder) of IPC against the accused driver.
