The omicron veriant of the coronavirus takes a serious turn and prompts further restrictions by the goverment, said economists and top company exequtivies.

     Several sectors including manufacturing, ecommers, logistics, construction and real estate are facing man power shortage of about 20-25% according to data from staffing and and human resources solution firm TeamLease servies, shared with ET.

 "Even if Omicron turns out to be a milder varient than Delta, the threat itself may stop people to coming back from rural areas," said madan sabnavis, chief economist, care Ratings. "That a part, seasonal migration due to the ongoing rabi sowing season is seen worsening the demand - upply gap," he added.

     There ia a huge supply short age in profiles such as supply executives, drivers housekeepers, welders, warehouse workers, electricians and crane operators according to TeamLease data.

A lack of skilled resources to meet the manpower demands is further adding to the shortage seshagiri rao joint managing director at JSW steel said attrittion leveles are still high, adding to the man power crisis. "There is a huge shortage of skills" Rao said.
